Uncommon European and Asian RPG setting resources. . .

I am compiling a list of European and Asian historical periods that are rarely examined in RPG settings. For example, I can't recall seeing too many RPG setting books that are truly dedicated to Germanic folkore or Norse myth cycles (both get the occasional mention in unrlated products but a product devoted solely to the topic of either is a rare gem).

Likewise, I am aware of exactly one book dedicated to roleplaying in historical Russia. Historical India, I'm quite certain, has never been graced with a dedicated sourcebook (and, no, pseudo-historical stuff like Sahasra, as good as it is, doesn't count here). Even Transylvania lacks a good historical sourcebook, despite being a hotbed of legend.

Any more countries or historical periods that you would like to see get more RPG coverage?

Both India and Russia have GURPS sourcebooks

personally I'm still looking for good treatement of the SE Asia and the Himalayas in any era, Afghanistan during the Great Game (1880 - 1920), Non-Arabian Nights Northern Africa/Arabia, SouthernEurope and the Levant (Mashriq)

Hmm... While it gets hinted at in various European games, it usually gets absorbed into other things. But Latvian, Lithuanian and Estonian culture be interesting, especially the mythology.

Very dark and grim, and I think would work well for low-magic, medieval setting.

It has been done, sorta a couple times... but not as a fully-separate/unique setting. But I would love to see a RPG based around Al-Andalus (Moorish Spain/Iberian Peninsula).

I had no idea that there was a GURPS India. That said, I think GURPS Russia is a modern-day sourcebook, is it not?

There is a roleplaying game titled "Tibet" set in modern Tibet.

Expeditious Retreat covers large swaths of southern and central Asia in "Silk Road". Granted, it's not dedicated to India, but India is covered.

I actually would love to see a British-Raj but with Indian mythology made real.

Just think of your PC's as colonial soldiers who stumble onto a ancient temple, and as you delve deep into the temple you find yourself fending off nagas with your musket and sabre *drools*

It also has tons of political intrigue, with various rebellions and British Indian Army mutinies, etc. and when you add ancient-mythological forces in those politics just makes it so much more amazing.

RuneQuest III had a Vikings supplement, which apparently was very good. I never managed to find a copy, however, so don't have any first-hand experience of it.

There was a 2e Campaigns "Green Book" on Vikings, too, IIRC. Again, I don't think it's one I own.

Yeah, the green book on Vikings was actually pretty good... I liked it. Not as much as I like the Roman one, but still.

Personally, I'd love to see a Mesopotamian world, and NOT the "Mesopotamia" book released a few years ago (not that it was bad, per se... just that it really drew upon lovecraft and biblical devils rather than, you know, making a setting out of actual mesopotamian myth).

Someone a while back was talking about a Polynesia setting. Hawai'i D&D could be pretty cool, I think. I'd be a surfing Sorcerer. Just because, y'know?
