Prestigious Villian

If you have it, Tomb and Blood has some nice prestige classes you could use. Undead Specific their are the Pale Master and the True Necromancer. You might like the pale master better in this situation.

So the two PCs (Level six, ranger and druid 3.0rules.) are at seprate ends of the first really big dungeon and I need to find a captive Npc and some villagers. So what is a good villainess thing for this dungeon Pleeeaase help. Note: both characters will have two plus five or so weapons or shields by end of the dungeon (counting villan loot). Also Note: I'm thinking of giving said villan contacts in other areas that the PCsneed to hunt down.

Well, since I helped to write it, I'm gonna toot my own horn. You might want to check out the "Deathright" module for the Kingdoms of Kalamar setting. You should easily be able to pull some stuff from it.

It deals with a lich queen long-ago imprisoned in her underground stronghold, and has several nonlinear locations/plots aboveground (including captive children, and two villages). Of course, it is version 3.0, so you'd have to update it, which would be the biggest disadvantage. Well, that and the fact it's not free. :)

If you're playing in the realms, make him a priest of Velsharoon, the god of Undeath. Then, to be really cruel, make him LN, not evil. That doesn't meant he characters wouldnt' oppose him however. (snip)

Velsharoon is NE therefore his clerics have to be NE, CE or LE (or possibly N, depending on your DM) due to the "one step" rule.

Go in a different direction-

What is spawning the undead in this dungeon is a semi-intelligent magic item.
Essentially, the BBEG (more on him later) who formerly owned the place has left (this will give you room for a followup adventure), but his SoulFurnace- an artifact that he used to produce undead- has been left running.

As long as it is supplied with dead bodies, it can make zombies or skeletons. when supplied with living bodies, it creates intelligent undead, and the BBEG had work crews of undead who were sent to continuously supply the SoulFurnace.

Think of it somehwat like an undead version of the Alien Queen's chamber.

Why do this? Because the players will be expecting a BBEG, not a semi-intelligent artifact. They won't know (at least initially) what to hit. When they eventually figure out they need to destroy the SoulFurnace, they'll try and fail. They must cart it off to be destroyed by ___________________. As they cart it off, though, they are repeatedly attacked both by the work crews and the final few undead that the SoulForge is in the process of creating.

They may hate you, but it will be a good kind of hate!

After the SoulForge is destroyed, they can go about their lives, carousing and adventuring...until BBEG comes looking for the "meddling kids" who took his SoulForge.

THEN throw a Deathknight or some such at them, leaving a trail of destroyed villages behind it as it searches for them. They'll be the hunted, not the hunters.

After taking down the Deathknight, though, they'll still have to take down the BBEG...

The Soulforge is a interesting idea. They'ed pobably first try healing it thats what the did when they needed to destroy a magic dagger that stool souls. What would that do? Also BBEG mean big bad evil guy or something like that, right?

Yes. "BBEG" does mean "Big, Bad Evil Guy."

Don't let them get away with just using a heal. Destroying the SoulForge should require effort.

However, let them think the heal was effective. Tell them "Its aura of evil dims" or some such. All that it does is slow it down-it stops producing for 24 hours. ;)

Then, when they least expect it, it spits forth another undead abomination or two.

Well, don`t throw to big things at them, is my advice.
They are only 2 characters of 7th level. An EL of 9 for the final encounter would be quite challenging. Most of these undead creatures and Prestige Classes won´t allow that much.
The artifact idea sounds nice. It might be protected by a person that seems to be the BBEG. (Make him 8 or 9th level, or a bit lower and give him some "henchmen")

Good points, M. Ridcully!

That is another advantage to the SoulForge plotline-it gives the PCs time to increase their power levels before taking on the ACTUAL BBEG.

Might I suggest you try to find a copy of the 2Ed module "Vecna Lives" (I think that's the title). It handles that kind of duplicity fairly well.
