Underdark Overview, aka Return of Drow Weaponry

The Vengeance taker do not have to me Imaskari. They are recruited by the Imaskari Retributive Masters to take vengence on anyone the Masters are sworn to protect that have been harmed.

What a waste of a PrC.....a more spellcasting oriented assassin.....jeez. I'm still waiting for a non spellcasting - more fighter oriented assassin. :) That would be neat :)

Anyone care to fill me on the current deal with the Imaskari? I'm a FR fan from back in thre day but not as up on current developments. I remember them being an ancient magical empire in Raurin in the days before the rise of Mulhorand and Unther (and even Netheril, IIRC) but didn't realize that they were still around at all. Since this is a thread about Underdark I gather that they went underground but I'd be interested to hear more about it (and right now there are several products with more priority than Underdark on my wants list). Are they still human or have they evolved into something else?

Edit: I saw the info posted earlier in the thread but my request is aimed more at story info than rules. thanks.

AFAIK, this is the newest info on Imaskari in a long time (any novel-reading FR fan willing to correct me?).

This product gets a happy purchase from me. 3eFR has been hit & miss, but the last two products have made me happy (more new, less regurgitation compared to previous products).

Wraith,

is there ANYTHING remotely related to the Demon Princes/Arch Devils or other powerful outsiders of D&D lore involved in the Underdark? What about the Drow Gods? Anything about Gods in general?

(Just want to know if I can get myself a nice underdark city for Orcus. :) )

The Imaskar were bigbad spellcasters. One day, they decided gods weren't worthy of worship and slain their whole pantheons. Then they decided to get their work done by slaves from other planes, introducing notably the mulhorandi and untherites. They sealed off communication between the plane they took their slaves and Toril, so that their captives' gods could not help them (the mulhorandi and untherite gods were just able to send avatars, whose severance from the true deity made quasi-mortal, some of them got killed).

Like all empire based on slavery, it was undone by slave rebellion. The Mulhorandi and Untherite eventually destroyed the Imaskar empire, of which nothing was left.

Just a dead tongue, the Roushoum, and a large badland region, the Raurin desert.

Imaskar is supposed to mean "artificer" in Roushoum. And indeed, they crafted lots of stuff. The Brown Dragons are their creation. The Phaerimm too. As well as lots of powerful-yet-ursed artifacts that lies in the dust of the Raurin desert.
