undermountain 2: what's the problem?

there seem to be many anti-undermountain 2 sentiments on these boards, and i can't understand why. i liked the npcs (muiral and trobriand, especially), the new magic items were interesting, and i loved that they gave us three more levels of the deepest dungeon.

so why don't people like undermountain 2: the deep levels?

Yeah, I recall seeing undermountain2 hate-screeds dating back to the heyday of 2e at rgfd.

I like the NPCs too, as well as wyllowood (which some seem to not like.)

The one section I didn't like is the test of Tyr thing. The maps also weren't as dense as Undermountain.

For me, a large part of the problem was that Ruins of Undermountain II offered me very little that I couldn't create myself given a long weekend and a pad of graph paper at a considerably higher cost. Buying it used for $3-$5 might not be a bad deal but, honestly, I still wouldn't pay more than that for it. Ruins of Myth Drannor falls into the same category for me.

I don't think it is hated as much as 3.5E's atrocious Expedition to the Ruins of Undermountain, well, not really Undermountain because the maps are incomplete... um, actually the whole thing is really incomplete... and the Yawning Portal map doesn't have room for the, um, yawning portal... yeah we stuffed up. Sorry, that's the full name.
