Underwater Sunrods

I've read the debates on whether sunrods are "hot or not". I fall into the camp that says that they are not. I'm of a mind that they are alchemical "glow sticks" with a glowing gold tip rather than a flare with a hot end.

I may have missed it but either way, they could still possibly work underwater in both cases. I'd like to read everyone's best arguments on the underwater sunrod usage issue, please.

I'm of the opposite camp - "hot". They'll work underwater IMC.

My opinion...

Warm/hot to touch, but not enough to burn anything, like a lightbulb. Can be used underwater.
