Unearthed Arcana 3rd ed?

If Wizards is going to reprint stuff to make people buy it twice, I vote that they reprint the NON-crunchy bits to do with DMing, running a campaign, world design and so forth. This would be most of chapters 1, 2, 5, 6 and 7 in the DMG, the material on designing your cosmology in Manual of the Planes, how to create an "Oriental feel" in OA, and the forthcoming stuff on running high-level campaigns in the ELH. Possibly also other stuff I can't remember.

All of this is great generic advice on how to run a D&D campaign. It would be good to collect it all in one place.

I would like to see Unearthed Arcana as an annual or semi annual series.

Small softcover books with additions to the game and changes to the rules.

Sort of a 3.1 to DnD

The idea would be a mix of what the GURPS Compendiums did for GURPS and what books like Skills and Powers and the old Unearthed Arcana did for ADnD.

Not the same content as those books mind you.

But the same concept:

That of making optional additions and revisions to the system. Some of which might be seen in the eventual 4E a decade or so from now. Some of which are merely ideas to toss around.

In a way it would be a series about the idea of developing the game system in stages that we as consumers could see and use and thus give feedback over the years.

See the d20/gaming industry thread. Wizards has essentially outsourced the task of producing these add-ins to third-party shops....

...I've heard many note that the skill focus for a single skill should officialy be changed to +3 (heck, should be +4 since Combat Casting is but that's another story)...

One minor point about this: Skill Emphasis +3 applies in all situations of that skill, while combat casting is only used in ONE situation.

But I agree, Skill Emphasis should be substituted for Skill Focus in D&D...

Merging all of the splatbooks into a hardcover would be awesome. After taking out all of the duplicate feats, the book shouldn't be very big...
