D&D 5E (2024) Unfreezing the Narrative

So, am I hearing "get rid of the Op Attack rule" to make everyone more mobile?

Or "if you whiff, the least you can do is draw your opponent's reaction for the round so she can't Op Attack anyone else?"
In my game, Crossroads, when you utterly fail, you can create an opening for someone else. (And you get an experience)

I'm in. Hold the enemy's sword in your wound so she's unable to parry your ally's attack!

Although in my game, it's more like, "she does 5 damage. What happened?"
Yep and you could even turn that into a technique and practice if you wanted (i dont recommend it lol)

Awesome idea, but I have to ask, what happens when a player pulls from the cup, rolls, and still doesn't hit? Does that just compound the issue?
Not at all, because players tend to use it when they are just shy of a hit. And I can’t remember if I mentioned it, but players can take as many dice as they think they need, as long as they’re taking two at a time. I don’t even care if they roll the dice, fail the roll, then decide to take more. The dice are there to push their luck.
