Unified Magic System -- help?

Zerakon

First Post
For the Will Power rules I am tinkering on, I am making a unified magic system, where there is no divine/arcane split in magic. To this end, I am looking for a document that lists divine spells with the school (and subschool) of magic that they belong, e.g. Cure Light Wounds (Conjuration [Healing]). Preferably, this would be in spreadsheet form but I'd take anything at this point over manually looking up each spell. Has any intrepid soul assembled such a document?

Here's a zip file of a tab delimited text file of all the spells from the 3.0 PHB. I haven't gotten around to revising it for 3.5 yet.

The document you are looking for is called the Player's Handbook. It has all the spells with their schools.

Look it up.
My, aren't you the cheerful one. Perhaps you should cut back on the amount of sugar you take in each morning...

Mourn: Yes, I have the Player's Handbook. Thanks for such a helpful comment.

ichabod: :) Thanks! That file is great, just imported it into Excel and can now work with the spells much more easily. (The fact that it is 3.0 is actually better for me, as my crew is not going to 3.5.)

When I refine my system a bit more, I'll post it here for feedback. Thanks again.

You can always get a list from the system resource document, located here. You need 'Spell List I' and 'II' of those.

Also, you might want to look at Monte Cook's Arcana Unearthed, here. AU has a unified spell list and system already in place.

Nope, the Spell Lists in the SRD and Player's Handbook do not contain School (e.g. Conjuration, Transmutation, etc.) for non-Arcane spells. Even though all spells are in fact assigned to one of the magical schools.

Yeah, I've read about it. I'm still waiting for my FLGS to get AU in stock so I can flip through it to see if it would be something that I might be interested in. In any case, I'm taking a different approach with my unified magic. I'm actually going to stick with the standard d20 spells as I don't have time to write up all new spells. Although I might add some custom spells specifically dealing with Thrall Magic (for "dark" sorcerers who bond to thralls and drain their life force to power spells). I'm mostly coming up with a new way of acquiring and casting spells; as such, I've thrown all the core spellcasting classes and Vancian fire-and-forget magic out the window.

Also, I don't want to rain on your parade if you're really in the mood to come up with a unified magic system, but The Elements of Magic by E.N. Publishing, presents a build-your-own-spells magic system that has no arcane or divine distinction. We're currently revising it for 3.5.
