I have a realm in my campaign called the Eternal Depths. It is basically an ice cold netherworld where dead sailors and the drowned go. The Eternal Depths are a gigantic ocean made of souls, inside the biggest underground cavern. The rocks are all black and smooth, and the temperature is ice cold. Some parts of the depths are even covered in ice and/or snow despite the endless cavernous ceiling. It is so dark inside the Depths that the ceiling can rarely be seen, and it is covered in a blanket of clouds that hide the ceiling from sight. Players cannot venture into this realm without serious preparation against the cold, and even then they must make saves against frostbite. One of the biggest dangers in the Depths is getting lost, or being forgotten. Once a soul is forgotten, it becomes an icy statue.
