Definately. There are 0 ways to roll less than 8 on 8d6 (one of them would have to roll a 0 or less), but there are 7 ways to roll less than 8 on 6d8 (one way to get all 1's, six ways to get one 2 and five 1's).

Also keep in mind at colossal sizes...the str mod to damage will probably matter more. x1.5 starts to matter a whole lot when you are talking 30 strs and the like.
