Upcoming Warhammer 40K Roleplaying Book. Thoughts?

Is there a sort of primer for WH40K. I get the basics of the game, but am unfamiliar with the ins and outs of the setting. I plan to buy the book, but i am affraid it will be presented with certain aspects expected to be understood.

Ditto. I pre-ordered and I cannot wait. Back when Rogue Trader first came out my buddies and I used to make fun of the "Orcs with guns" game. (yes, I'm old.) However, the 40K universe has really grown on me over the years.

I'm getting 40KRP. I've read a bunch of the novels but never played the wargame outside a couple demos. We had a lot of fun for a few months with WFRP, so the system is already familiar. I may not run it as an RPG--it depends on how good the modules are. After the WFRP experience, I would probably be inclined to convert 40KRP to d20 for familiarity or Savage Worlds for ease.

Isn't it more than twice the size too? It is an impressive piece of work. When side by side with WFRP it almost towers over the smaller book.
