Update me: Darksun and Birthright

Where does Birthright and Darksun currently stand? I know of all the fan sites for both, but I'm wondering where any official product currently stands. Birthright.net had something up a bit ago mentioning they had the rights now to the setting and were planning to publish a new hardcover. Any truth to that statement or was it just an April fools type of thing?

Anyone use any current d20 products for a general birthright conversion? I was looking foward to Mongoose's Bloodlines as it seemed "very" close to Birthright, but appears to now be in dev. hell.

I think that was an April Fools thing. But I don't know since I don't follow Birthright much.

Define "official".

Because the official Dark Sun fansite is putting out "official" 3.x Dark Sun material. The new "official" material stuff is actually co-owned by WotC and the official Dark Sun fansite, and according to the agreement between the two must be released free and can never be charged a price for.

I know about the athas site and love it, but something about actually getting a physical hardback appeals to me. I at least like that darksun seems to have more of a fan-base left than birthright.

I'm disappointed that they would say they have the license just for April fool's.
