The Da’Roneh are on the shorter side of average and tend to reside more in the southern part of the continent. Due to some advancement in textiles and leatherwork, they are suspected to be somewhat agrarian, forming hidden, isolated communities from which hunting and raiding forays are launched. Nomadic groups, when encountered, are always warlike and aggressive, being known headhunters and are greatly feared because they are able to naturally manipulate waylines (perform magic). The Da’Roneh are known to revere carrion birds, especially the black vulture, which, though smaller, tends to bully other carrion birds.</p><p></p><p>Da’Roneh females outnumber males two to one because any male child born beyond the first is sacrificed in a religious ceremony, where it is left in the desert or savanna for vultures to devour. The war parties reference themselves to various birds that they honor. The youngest, called Crows, are relatively psychotic and will ambush anyone but their own kind by mystically charging a stone to launch with a sling; after which, they close to melee, where a bone club is wielded in each hand. The next age group, called Ravens, are slightly more formidable and no longer need to use a sling stone for their initial mystical assault. They also physically fight with light metal rods instead of bone clubs. These groups are all considered young by normal aging standards, but very few have ever encountered older groups or perhaps never survived the meeting.</p><p></p><p>Unbeknown to the Sojourn Six, they have discovered a path to one of those extremely rare Da’Roneh communities, but, also unknown, was that they were not the first to discover the path, not even the first from Asylim. Soon enough, disturbing information was to be forthcoming. Immediately however, upon following the path into a hidden valley with the Dragon’s Footprint, another group of Da’Roneh was ascending toward the descending party to apparently investigate the location of the previous party that was never going to return. The presence of the Six was not yet known, but the Da’Roneh could be heard conversing and were making no attempt at stealth.
