Ur-Priest Fire Storm does...ehm...8d6 damage?

althought, there is a rule that says you can cast spells for lesser effect but you cannot cast them below the minimum level to cast the spell. This implies that the two are linked. Athough the proof is hardly final.

I overall don't have a problem with a 20th level Ur priest as a 10th level caster. Doesn't freak me out at all.

Ur-Priests are cool. They get 9th level spells in 9 levels, which opens itself up to all kinds of nifty tricks, and they count half their levels in any other spellcasting class (except for ex-cleric) towards their Ur-Priest caster level. You can do all kinds of cool things with Ur-Priest, Mystic Theurge, and stuff like that...

Well, the problem lies in the cost of magic items, which are normally priced at the lowest ANY caster could conceivably make them.

Meaning that because Ur-Priests can make a scroll of Create Greater Undead (Clr8) at CL 8, market pressure will supposedly push down prices for these scrolls from 3,000 gp. to 1,800 gp.

And this is why even though a wand made by a Sorcerer is always more expensive to make than that of a comparable wizard, it market price is the same.

That's why every self-respecting Ur-Priest opens his own profitable "Ye Olde Magic Shoppe" because where a Cleric would pay 10.500 gp. to make Wand of Neutralize Poison (7 * 4 * 375) an Ur-Priest would pay 6.000 gp. (4 * 4 * 375) to make the same wand.

Constructing market prices for magic items this way it utter nonsense if you ask me, but that's basically how it works.

Actually, you must be a 10th level ur-priest to cast 9th level spells, because at 1st level you gain orizons. This requires a 15th level character, which would have to be a Wizard5/UrPriest 10, only 2 levels below when a normal cleric would gain 9th level spells.

According to CD, a 9th level Ur-priest has 0 9th level spells.
So he can cast 9th level spells if he has a wisdom score of 28+ or some other means of gaining 9th level bonus spells;)
