urban adventures

Thanks for mentioning Urban Blight Xarlen! I appreciate it.

Darkbard, Foul Locales: Urban Blight is a collection of locations in the city for the d20 system. They are perfectly suited for city based role playing encounters for solo-play or a party. Even though some of the ELs may be high the ELs are only there to provide the GM with a benchmark should the "location"be attacked or over a combat encounter. There are many ways a solo character in an Urban setting could encounter these locales with out having to take on the entire location so the places can be really suited to many levels and styles of play.

Pop into your local store and check it out when you have the time. I think you will find lots of what you are after.

I am so surprised No one has mentioned Urban Blight. Shame on you. :)

Crap! I'm too late. Don't want to be FDP James, but...

Get Urban Blight!! I have to agree that uraban adventures make the easiest and most interesting solo adventures. Roleplaying keeps the solo character relatively safe until the combat does come at the conclusion of the mystery (or whatever plotline is going on). Private investigation is a pretty good angle for solo play.

Bwhaha. :) Hey, No problem Doug; I like Mystic Eye. Blight Magic and Urban Blight are cool; crank out more stuff.

Speaking of which, Doug, I emailed you about trying to be a freelance writer, and send in stuff, and you never returned my email. HMPH.

lots of people talked about detectives, but one of the most fun adventures I had in a city was being a bounty hunter...tracking down criminals and bringing them to justice.

One thing that's almost as key as having detailed npcs is having some detailed places. Try to anticipate what the character will look for in the city (taverns, inns, home, magic item shops, temples, places to perform, thieves' guild, local wizard, constabulary, local power centers, etc) and have at least a brief description of the place and its people in there.

How much is a beer? A room? Can the pc get cured at the temple? How much does it cost? What about potions?

Stygian #4's theme is Urban Adventures, so be sure and look for the announcement of it's release on the D20 publisher's forum. My adventure, "Bordello of the Night King", is in it and it can be ran as a solo adventure, but the encounters will have to be toned down.

Does anyone else miss the Citybooks as much as I do? Those were quite possibly the BEST supplements ever put out by anyone. I can't imagine how I ran my campaigns without 'em.

Urban Blight provides a similar and much-appreciated helping hand. Highly recommended!

Yeah, I love the Citybooks. Still use them, along with Urban Blight. These sort of supplements are invaluable when running an urban campaign.

My players still talk about the Flying Fish Tavern, and playing the game where you throw the fish at the basilik's cage.

You may want to check out Bluffside: City on the Edge which many state have the feel of the old city books with the depth of Waterdeep. We are working on officially numbering some of teh Urban Blight places as POI's for Bluffside as well, so that will make it even easier for you to play in a city enviroment!
