Wow, no one is discussing this?

Urban Arcana, an action series inspired by the Hasbro/Worlds of Wonder role-playing game which follows an undercover detective who must protect the human population from the influx of chameleon-like, mythological creatures from a parallel world. Aron Coleite (Crossing Jordan) will write, with Gary A. Randall and Rockne O'Bannon (The Triangle, Farscape) executive-producing in association with Fox Television Studios.

Wow.

Heroes Anonymous sounds good as well. I have the issues of the comic and it's a pretty interesting concept.

Those Who Walk in Darkness sounds cool, too. Heck, almost all of them do.

Now, let's see how many survive the first couple of episodes.

They should find gamers to write these shows (or at least be a member of the writing teams). Heck, maybe they do have gamers on the writing staff. Who better to come up with interesting plots than people that actually have played the game?

I'm sure the Sci-Fi channel will exhibit the same enduring commitment to these shows as it has to so many others during its' illustrious history.

My question is why this and not Forgotten Realms or any other D&D setting that has alot of things going for it? Wizards did have a FR tv show planned but it never happened.

Cost, I imagine. It's very easy and cheap to shot a TV show that is set in the modern day world. Since you can shoot pretty much anywhere.

OTOH, for a fantasy series, you generally have to create new sets for everything. And probably have to shoot in New Zealand. Which then presents logistical problems, including getting extras for the show. Which is why on Xena, a large chunk of the Roman soldiers were Maoris.

Urban Arcana will probably just be shot in Canada and use cheesy CGI for the monsters (or out of work hockey players). Much cheaper.
