Use Warhorn?

Hi folks,

Why isn't this forum using Warhorn.net to help organize these. It's a nice, easy, FREE convention and gameday organizational tool. I've used it for years. It takes you off site, but it's worth it. Warhorn.net

We've used it for local gamedays in the past. I think the consensus has been that the scheduling for the GenCon games is so back and forth and interactive, that this works better.

Been a year or more since I've used Warhorn, but I didn't think the functionality was all that great, personally. Maybe they've improved it?

Got it in one. :)

Aside from which (or perhaps, the point), people here and at CM are part of an interactive community. You see how some times get massaged around, and how some people are willing to make accommodations to fit people in? That's the type of thing that doesn't flow smoothly through Warhorn. That's the kind of thing discussion on an interactive forum accommodates.

Warhorn's nice if you want a more formal system where you have a known game in a known time slot a priori and you don't know the players ahead of time (boy, there was quite a flap a few years back when one fellow put an announcement on warhorn, people signed up for it, and he told everyone to get lost, he already had players.)

That's odd. I've been using it for years without issue. There's probably some thing that could be a bit cleaner. Since I've used that system it's hard for me to use a forum for something like this. Since there's a legacy, I can understand why folks may prefer this way.

Warhorn is great! But as noted, it requires more dedicated time from a mod who will shepherd the process, fix changes, and the like. This is sometimes irritatingly organic, but it's homier. That's got to be worth something. :)

And you know, part of it for me is the institutional feel of Warhorn. It's probably wrong to say, but these threads always struck me as simply more chatty and fun.
