D&D 3E/3.5 Using 3.0 counters in 3.5

I've been using Fiery Dragon's Counter Collection I, and I just bought CC2. In general I think they are great products, but I'm a little worried I underestimated how spacing changes in 3.5 have changed counter sizes.

I belive ogres/and half ogres now should take up a 10 x10 square, right? (the CCI token is a 5x5 square)

What other monsters have had spacing changes that need to be taken into account when using counters?

The biggest change with the space v. face rules is that nothing has a rectangular space (well, technically I guess I'd better say that all spaces are squares, since a square is a subset of rectangle... ) So a large (long) creature that used to be 5x10 is now a 10' square.

Ah, yes. Horses for example.

We're solving that by using the (rectangular 5x10) horse counter and placing it between squares to it covers four squares.

Question, what about when horses are side-by-side pulling a carriage (CCI has such a counter). Do they each take up 10x10, or can they be put together as one 10x10 counter?

Creatures can squeeze into smaller spaces that their typical fighting space. I'd have no problem putting two horses into a 10 x 10 square for pulling a carraige, or executing a charge, or something -- they'd just suffer the "squeezing" penalties if they were to fight that way.

Large critters are all 10x10; for my minis or counters who are 5x5, I just put them on the intersection of the four squares of the 10x10 grid -- it works just fine.

I have ,ost of the CC collections and tend to se the Giants face down with the Other counter, like an ogre, face up in the center of the other. Sometimes when I use a metal figure I use the cross hairs approach of placing the mini in the center of 4 squares. I find using a counter face down helps visualize and make fewer mistakes.. Its been a hassle but It usually works out.

That's close to what I did. I cut out numerous squares of large, huge, and gargantuan size. That way, I can put it under a miniature or counter to clearly indicate size to the players.

Just a word to the wise: Fiery James has informed me that he expects Creature Collection Gold to hit stores in February. If you haven't heard about CCG (:)), it's a HUGE!! batch of counters that will incorporate all of the critters from CC1 and CC2 (and maybe other Counter Packs, as well - not sure about that, now that I think of it...) whose size stats have changed with the advent of 3.5. Yep, all of 'em!

Not only that, but CCG promises to be a special feature in more ways than one (we like to throw a little extra value into all of our products, ya know). Even the packaging will be something unique. So be sure to keep an eye out for this one. It'll be a doozy!

Where needed, I just scanned the 3.0e counter, printed out the correct size, and taped it to a 2" by 2" peice of tag board.
