Using Dragon mag PrCs?

So has anyone used any of the PrCs found in Dragon mag?

I haven't in a long time, even as a GM.

For me, part of it is that I have so many books, that when I need a PrC, I'm more likely to look in a book. The various Complete books are good for that.

Another part is that a PrC is a little more long term than say a feat, spell, or magic item.

What about others?

I used The Herald PrC near the end of our first 3E campaign. So far... I think that's about the only PrC I've ever used. Most of the other characters really haven't needed a PrC or been in the position to get one.

Nope. I have banned Dragon from my games. The stuff is not playtested, even if it is playtested before submission, the editors usually change it to fit some sort of 3e concept, and then we get an unplaytested mess.

No material from Dragon will find a way into my game any time soon.

Also my opinion. There so many prestige classes out there, so many official books full of them, that indeed, there is no need for yet another set of prestige classes such as those found in Dragon Magazine (and even sometimes no desire to read them).

Short of looking to Dragon PrCs for ideas, I haven't made use of any prestige classes from the magazine. Most are simply too generic for my tastes, and plenty of other books offer fantastic options that have seen a lot of reviewing, playtesting, and consideration.

That's not to say only books provide good PrCs.

They have never been used IMC, though in theory, they are available.

There's just too many of them to be manageable, thus I haven't really had much time to review them and then to find an appropriate place for them in my campaign (except for the FR ones). So generally, they just sit in my "PrC binder", unused.

Some of them are useful to me, others aren't. I've used a few over the time and they worked well.

Personally, I think Dungeon and Dragon could benefit from some cross-content. As it is Dugeon is a DM-only magazine and Dragon is player-only. Adding the occasional PrC to Dungeon when appropriate and campaign design material to Dragon would really help both of them, in my arrogant opinion.

Edit: I have yet to use a Dragon PrC. Kinda bummed about that.

It would be nifty if both Dragon and Dungeon would add a sort of "annual index" to the December issue each year. Just a simple list of new rules info included over the previous year, including spells, prestige classes, base classes, feats, etc. Then, when looking for something in particular or just browsing for something useful you could just pull out the December issues for the past few years.

I certainly would not mind losing a little content to devote pages to such an index, but if that is a problem maybe Paizo could do something online.

Voice of experience: I just dug through a few years of Dragons looking for new spells for my sorcerer.
