D&D 5E Using skills for Dispel Magic and Counterspell

For these spells it says that to dispel a spell of a higher slot that that which was used for the casting requires an ability check using the spell casting ability. If Im an arcane caster can I use my arcana skill to apply my proficiency bonus here or is it a straight up ability check that does not benefit from skills?

By the book, it's a straight up ability check.

The only way to add proficiency bonus on the books thus far is the 10th level feature of the Abjuration arcane tradition for wizards.

Good catch! I was just about to respond differently, but not now. The Adjuration feature specifically allows the bonus for Dispell Magic and Counterspell by name.
