Using Sleep against constructs

RCOUTS

First Post
My group is curious if Constructs are innately immune to sleep even though nothing about magical sleep is covered in their description. It merely says they do not need food/water/sleep.

Any insight guys? :hmm:

I thought that if construct was to be immune to sleep it would have this particular quality listed in it's stats, like other monsters do.

Thanks!

Constructs do not have an innate immunity to magical sleep, though most of them have it in their stat line. For instance, Stone Golems are immune, Flesh Golems are not.

Just being a construct does not render you immune to anything, except against spells/effects that specifically target living creatures (unless you're a living construct). Not needing to breathe or sleep does not make you immune to magical sleep, or magical drowning for that matter. The monster's entry will specify what it's immune to.

The Sleep spell is more than just mundane sleep, so even creatures that don't need to sleep (like Eladrin and constructs) can be effected by it.

.and also the so-called 'sleep' spell actual makes you unconscious, it does not put you to sleep :)
PHB: When your asleep your unconscious...
But the spell makes you unconscious not asleep..although the effect is the same!:)

But again - just so its not missed.

Most constructs are immune to sleep. Its just on an individual creature by creature basis, not a universal immunity for the type.
