Using the Diamond Throne in a non AU game?

Was looking at this product and wondering if it's usable in a Non-AU game. Anybody use this setting (or material from it) in a standard 3e game? How tied is it to AU?

Haven't played Diamond Throne OR A.U. yet, but I do have some thoughts:

The only thing I could see is that you may want to use the Races and Race levels in place of standard D&D ones. The classes REALLY don't play such an important role that they are inseperable.

Witches can be Bards (mechanics-wise, just make te bard songs hexes instead, and Perform requirements become witchery skill), Champions can be paladins without alignment requirements, and Greenbonds can be substituted by clerics, Magisters by Wizards or sorcerers, etc. It won't be a PERFECT fit, but the two things that need to stay the same are the Giant domination of the world, and their relationship to the other races. The other races can even be substituted (half-orcs for litorians, elves for verrik, dwarves for sibbecai, gnomes or halflings for Faen, etc.) But the Giants are the central campaign setting feature, IMO. The other races are secondary, and the classes the least important part to emulate.

It is totally tied to AU. It's the setting made to play AU, and built around AU. That said, it is adaptable, like anything.

I could understand using it with AU and some bits of D&D, but using it without AU seems counterproductive.

Anyway, here's how I would make the associations:

Loresong Faen: Gnome (especially fit for those revised bardic gnomes, "loresong" being an apt description of the bard class)
Quickling Faen: Halfling
Litorian: Elf
Sibeccai: Half-orc
Verrik: Dwarf
Mojh: Yuan-ti tainted ones

Akashic: Bard
Champion: Paladin, or Fighter going Blackguard or Divine Champion
Greenbond: Druid
Mageblade: Sorcerer going Eldritch Knight
Magister: Cleric, Wizard, or Psion
Oathsworn: Monk
Runethane: Wizard
Totem Warrior: Ranger or Barbarian
Unfettered: Rogue, Monk, or Finesse Fighter going Duelist
Warmain: Paladin or Heavy Fighter
Witch: Sorcerer or Psychic Warrior

Well, my group played in a short-lived DT game dmed by RobNJ, which was pretty damn good, while it lasted, that is.

I'd say that it could be easily converted, just a few changes of the races involved, but the Humanists and Giants could be suitible for any setting.

I guess I wonder what material you'd like to take out of it? Monsters? Check. New magic items? Check. PrCs? Some adaptation required, but check. Magical holidays? Excellent concept. Check. Setting stuff? Check. Covered by other posts. Much of this will be easier if you have AU to start with of course. A lot of the world details make for excellent campaign starts. Thartholan with its ruins ripped from other dimensions, Sormere with it's ancient city ripe for intrigue, or the Harrowdeep where few non-faen have ever been.
