Vacation Reading Suggestions

I'm going on a vacation soon, which will include a couple 11-hour flights, and possibly significant amounts of time on a beach with little I need to do. I'm looking for reading suggestions.

Given the situations, what I need are books that are interesting, but tolerant of distraction and interruption. A crowded plane with the occasional bawling child is not the right place to read something which calls for deep immersion :) I'm thinking things like Gaiman & Prachett's Good Omens fits the bill. The original Dragonlance trilogy would also serve. Maybe Stephenson's Snow Crash. Of course, I've read all of those before. Anyone have other suggestions?
