Vampire Blood Magus?

Glamdring

First Post
Let's hear your opinions and suggestions for a vampiric blood magus I'm working on. Here are a few questions I would pose:

-Would such a prestige class even work for a vampire?

-Would the vampire have to have drank its full in blood in order to use the abilities of a blood magus?

-Would a vampire be severely weakened by the blood-based abilities of the prestige class?

-Would the vampirism make a blood magus stronger?

These are top-of-my-head questions, so please, bring up other issues and possibilities. I think the vampire blood magus would be a truly diabolic enemy to inject into a campaign, especially one as devious and deadly as mine. Let me know what you think.

I don't have a prestige class, but I have a template of a creature like that called a Blood Lich or Sangrolu (actually a conversion of an old 2e fan created creature that has been one of my favorite villains for years). It is pretty much done (along with my elder vampire template, my own take on a template for aged vampires). It is sitting on my hard drive, all I need is to finish the salient ability options. Of course I have been saying that for months now.

As my players are getting to the levels where they can actually contemplate facing such a beastie, perhaps I'll finish it soon.

It's a rather complex creature, but basically, it can store a pool of blood, and then can use stored con points to cast metamagic without charge.

Personally Mike, I'd just use Blood Witch. It's a better class AND it makes more sense than this one. I was never a fan of Blood Magus. Didn't seem to me like it was a well implemented Pr-class.

Dragon magazine (I believe it was issue # 288) already made a vamp-only prestige class called the Lifedrinker. Basically, the powers gained depended on how many "Blood points" the vampire got from drinking blood.

Yes, I noticed. I was very ticked, because I thought the moment I put the blood lich out, people would call it a copy... despite the fact it has been around on fan boards for years. :(

Ah, well, I still like my take better. :)
