Vampire Level Draining - No Save, Right?

Sigma

First Post
Just want someone to confirm for me that there is no save for a vampire's level draining ability. I've read the vampire description and section on level draining in the DMG, and didn't see anything in either section indicating that there is one. However, I don't want tomorrow's game to bog down over the issue, so I want to make sure I didn't miss something. Thanks

There is no save against the initial negative level. You get hit, you get the negative levels (unless you have a specific protection against them). ]

24 hours later, you make a Fort save, and if you fail that, you actually lose the level.

There's no save against it immediately but 24 hours later you get a save vs. each negative level to remove it. The DC is 10+half HD+cha bonus.

No way. Vampire monk.

Why? Don't you have to hit with a 'slam' style attack to do the energy drain? Or would every unarmed attack from a monk do it?

It's a halfling sorcerer for plot reasons actually. It just worked out well that his high charisma feeds into the vampire's powers. And his jump from d4 HD to d12 HD didn't hurt either.

As far as I'm concerned, a slam is an unarmed attack. Thus, a vampire monk in my game would use his monk unarmed BAB, damage, and Flurry of Blows...and each successful strike adds two negative levels to the unhappy recipient. Someone correct me if I've been doing this wrong.

As I recall, the sage has ruled that regardless of how many attacks armed or otherwise, a vampire can only make one slam attack per round that inflicts negative levels.

I could be mistaken.

IIRC, energy-draining creatures can only drain once per round. Lemme see if I can scare up anything in the SRD in this regards. Hmmm... no dice. Maybe it was a ruling by the Sage. Can anyone help me out here?
