how about the names thereof? vampiric link is probably OK as-is, but i was thinking of changing the other one to "Energy Theft" perhaps.

I'd avoid the term "energy" since it has a clear connotation (acid, cold, fire, etc.) I'd go with something like "Siphon Life" or "Lifeleech".

although we do have "energy drain" ;) which, in the description states that it drains the creature's "vital energy". hmm, how perplexing. :)

are there any creatures who drain the life energy out of foes in ways besides energy drain, blood drain, or ability drain/damage? lifeleech might be OK, but there might be something better.

Curse you and your infernal logic, BOZWORTH! ;)

Lifeleech has already been used, anyway, by the lifeleech otyugh in the MMIII (probably why it came to mind so quickly).

I have a feeling that such a creature ability lurks out there somewhere, but once again I'm at a loss finding it. We really need to keep updating that creation notes thread for these situations! :D

that's not quite the same ability though...

we could call it "parasite" or "energy parasite"? :)

though looking at the lifeleech otyugh, i was inspired - perhaps we can use some of the verbiage from Inflict Light Wouds to spice up the ability? :)

I like where that's going. It might need to sound more "actiony", like "parasitic feeding" or "parasitic energy theft" or something.

Such as....?

just that, really:
"A vampire moss can use negative energy to cause a persistent energy loss in a creature it has established a vampiric link with."

"Parasitic energy theft" is too bulky, for sure. ;) how about "life drain"?
