Van Helsing: Possible surprise ending alert!

I think the spoiler has been told in the previews. I haven't seen the movie, but I put it into spoiler brackets nonetheless, because I have a sinking feeling that's what they're hinting at.

Do you all really think the surprise wouldn't be ruined in such a case?

The title *is* a spoiler. Anyone could speculate that a movie might have a surprise ending, just as any person might speculate that they'll find a surprise party waiting for them. If they even thought of such a thing. However, someone mentioning that there might be a surprise party (and calling it an "alert") introduces it into the person's mind, causing them to suspect there is such a thing.

Really bad analogy. A movie will always have an ending. There won't always be a party when one walks through a door. Now if you compared this thread with someone saying "there may be an unexpected guest at the end of your party", that would work better.

Something will always occur when you walk through a door - rarely, it's a party.

A movie will always have an ending - but it will only have a surprise ending some of the time.

If planned and put into action properly, you're not expecting a surprise party. If a movie is written and directed properly, you're not expecting a surprise ending.

Yeah, that wouldn't have changed anything about my experience.

It has little to no effect on how one will experience the movie.

I can't speak for others, but you're definintely wrong in my case.

What difference would it make if every person in the world agreed with me? What if everyone disagreed with me? The point would still be valid, no matter what - popular opinion is irrelevant.

However, the moderators disagree with you that the thread title should be changed, and that is fairly relevant. I'm sorry our opinions vary, but we feel the title of thread is fine. Please don't argue about it any more, Wrath. It might be best if you stay out of this thread if it still really bothers you.

On one level, it's about the son of a Duke seeking vengeance against those who betrayed and destroyed his father and rising to true power.

On another level, it's speculation about the evolution of religion and politics.

On another level, it's an exploration of the nature of prophesy, physics, and human potential.

On yet another level, the structure of the narrative itself mirrors the incomprehensible experiences of the main character, subtly causing the reader to understand what temporal clairvoyance would actually be like.

It's called a masterpiece with good reason.
