Post a thread on www.rpg.net and ask him about the idea.

What I really want S. John Ross to write (to the point where I asked him how much he'd want to write it) is an article about his five elements of a commercially successful RPG setting. His asking price was more than I can afford without winning the lottery. :)

Without a commercial publisher (or individual) willing to pay him for his effort, this is only idle chatter and hardly worth bugging him about. Uresia is out there where any publisher can see it, if they have any interest.

Steve Kenson and John Snead, combined. Blue Rose almost qualifies, but I'd love to see a d20 High Fantasy game with M&M's damage save mechanic, class archetypes based on folklore and mythology, and a system of powerful magic (rather than BR's more subtle arcana) that has resonances from real world mythology, occultism, and legendary feats of magic. You know, the sort of game where you could have viking berserkers, shield-maidens, and rune-wielding magician-priests facing off against arabian sorcerers who can beguile the weak-willed and incinerate the enemies with flame by summining and binding jinn, all on the strees of Byzantium, with its mystery cults, disciplined soldiers, roguish street urchins, and backstabbing noble courtiers.

Be sure to let us know when you win the lottery, okay? :)

Well, then I also have to persuade Steve Jackson to hand over the rights for Car Wars to S. John Ross. That was the price he asked. I'm not sure winning one lottery will be enough. :)

But, yes, if I really did win the lottery I really would consider funding some patronage-based RPG projects. Don't hold your breath for me to win the lottery, though. I'm not.

Mearls, Kenson, or Reed.

A joint project would be ideal!

I am quite pleased with Arcana Evolved - mechanics wise (the setting ain't my cup of tea). I like many of the new concepts.

I guess I'm confused as to what is being called an alternative player's handbook. Does it assume compatibility with standard D&D as Arcana Evolved does?
