Variant witches--Mongoose or Malhavoc version?

Hello there, been reorganizing the pile of stuff I'd call my campaign, right down to lists of acceptable prestige classes and core classes. While I'm still pondering whether to use some of the core classes as PrC's (such as the prestige bard and paladin in Unearthed Arcana ), my chief quandry regards the Witch. I want to include the witch but am stuck between the Mongoose version and the Malhavoc/AU version. Both have fairly decent abilities, although the M/AE witch is distinctive. Considering that I'm running a FR campaign, which one do you think is a better 'fit', whether campaign-specific or in general? (The Witches of Rashemen don't count in this, as I've decided they follow a very specific witch 'tradition' and will remain so in the campaign.)

I haven't seen Mongoose's witch, but I'm inclined to say use 'em both, but rename AU's witch. The AU witch really has absolutely NO "witch" flavour. Probably call 'em savants or something.

I wouldn't quite say the AU witch lacks true witch flavor. It does have 'the Sight', which seems witchy enough. And there are a few other bits to it...

Perhaps the best thing to do would be to use the MP witch as the 'core witch' but split the 'prestige witch' into six 15-level themed witch PrC's. That ways I can follow either path should I desire. It also solves the question of witch PrC selection since I've seen very few of interest.

Well I did it, turned the AU witch into an 'umbrella' prestige class called the Witch Lord, comprising the six types (wood witch, sea witch, etc.)...dropped the BAB to put it in line with Mongoose's and changed references to a Wisdom modifier to Charisma instead (since Mongoose's core version uses that). I changed a few of the class skills specific to each type for full 3.5 compatability, and instead of bonus spells gave it +1 caster level/level. It should probably be ratcheted down to +1 CL every other level, will ponder that for a while.
