The OPENED UP like four new mysteries...MAJOR ones...and the show is done?

Yeah, the ending was a bit strange. I thought, "surely this can't be the final episode," but sure enough.

Yeah, it was a kind of letdown ending, frankly. Wish they'd have wrapped things up better- then again, since they didn't know for sure it was a series ender (even if they suspected), they may not have had time and/or budget to do any reshoots (that's assuming they wanted to).

Hope that something changes and it gets picked up, but it looks pretty dead in the water.

I did like the Logan/Veronica reconciliation, such as it was.

I liked it, even if it opened up new things. I think I got somewhat accustomed to good shows being cancelled prematurely, and not knowing all the ends. In some ways, it gives me hope - the protagonists are still out there and doing there thing, we're just missing the details...

At the time they filmed the ending they still thought they would probably be renewed. I remember reading an article about that (though I honestly couldn't tell you where now though. Probably TVGuide.com), so I wasn't surprised with the ending.
I'd like to see a TV Movie to wrap everything up.

At least on the 3rd season DVD set we'll get the 6 minute "Veronica Mars: FBI" pilot that was shot.

I think there may have been a bit of 'let's make it as hard to cancel us as possible' going on as well.

Only positive is it won't be as hard/expensive to collect the whole series on dvd now.

I don't think it's really so much "make it hard to cancel," as it is "encourage the fans to demand more." A network is not likely to care how much of a cliffhanger there was if they don't think the show will make (enough) money.

It was shot as a last minute attempt to save the show. It would be Veronica Mars but 4 years after the end of season 3 and she would be a full fledged FBI agent. So, while not technically a pilot, that's an ample description.
