I think we should get a ranger dip as per magic initiate and martial adept. This is natural explorer ranger feature with extras.

Versatile Explorer feat
You choose a favoured terrain , and extra terrain depending on your character level l as per the Natural Explorer feature (6th and 10th level).

You are more than comfortable travelling through familiar lands, and you are more comfortable in getting familiar with any sort of land. Whenever you make a Strength or Dexterity check related to your favoured terrain (at the DM discretion), your proficiency bonus is doubled if you are using a skill that you are proficient in.

If you inhabit the same region for two weeks or so, you are able to replace one of your favoured terrain with the current setting in which you have been wandering about if it wasn't already one of your favoured terrains.

Your opinion ?

You may wish to dial back the power slightly, perhaps making it functionally weaker than the ability it's based off of. That way, characters still have incentives to take the real thing. I'd recommend the following:

Versatile Explorer
You have wandered many an hour in a particular region, learning its secrets to survival.Choose one of the following types of environment: arctic, coast, desert, forest, grassland, mountain, swamp, or the Underdark. You gain the following features:
  • Whenever you make a Wisdom (Survival) Check while in the chosen environment, you are treated as Proficient in the Survival Skill. If you are already proficient in the Survival Skill, your skill check is made at Advantage.
  • You can ignore difficult terrain in your chosen environment.
  • While tracking other creatures in your chosen environment, you also learn their exact number, their sizes, and how long ago they passed through the area.
  • You may spend one month in an environment to acclimate yourself to it. After acclimating yourself to a new environment, replace one of your chosen environments with the one you just acclimated to.
  • This feat may be taken multiple times.

If your goal for this version is to create master trackers, with advantage.... rename it "Master tracker". It needs buffing otherwise.

i'll change the feat to make it unique:

Versatile Explorer
If you are more than comfortable travelling through familiar lands, and you are more comfortable in getting familiar with any sort of land. Unlike a ranger, you don’t have any favored terrain. Whenever you make an Intelligence, Wisdom, Strength or Dexterity check related to intuit knowledge of your current environment, you can apply half proficiency bonus to a skill when you don't have any, at the DM discretion. EX: you know how to handle a fir to lift it, you know how to swim in the waves even if you don't have athletics skill because you studied the sea...

This feature may be good for a scout.

- more stuff for favored terrain
- mobile attacks and defense
- surprise sneak attacks as in d&d 3.5 ? I don;t like it, but ortherwise the offensve capabilities are low...

I saw some example from previous threads.
