I've played in a game with 12 people, and it was chaotic. There was no way for the DM to involve more than half of us at any one time. I think we spent more time chatting to each other than actually playing the game.

one time i went to an outdoor party... sometime in the late nineties... there must have been at least 5,000 people there..... all night long, loud music playing, people dancing..... oh wait... you mean DND?
