(VERY OT) Fantasy prom

Yes this probably doesn't belong on the boards but I was needing your help. Im trying to incorportate a Fantasy Theme into our H.S. Prom. I wanted something elegant and romantic but yet had a D&D style to it. Try to stay away from castles as a major role (maybe in the background) but that's overused. Maybe an Ever After theme? OR I was really thinking about (for those more intellectual people at our school......probably a total 5 people) a theme based on Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream.

I was going to use greenery for the most part and a castle in the distant background. What other fantasy topics or items could I include?

Naww.. nawwww... shackles in the background... with lace. :D
Stunning cocktail dresses in only the finest of studded leather... simply the best that Paris has to offer this year in elegant bondage gear... set your night afire with a dazzling chainmail garter...

Okay, maybe I should throw out my dad's old collection of Easyrider's....

Wall hangings. Even if they are made of construction paper, you can get pretty intricate.

Music selection. Drift away from Britany. Of course, good luck keeping them interested in classical.

Have pillars and vines adorn the entrances, fake leaves on the floor like confetti. Yellow, gold and red lighting will help with an out door theme, which will help with the fantasy theme.

Have all the seating areas around the dance floor covered in parade tents. The sides can be pulled back to allow people to see, but the feel will still be there.

String trees with white christmas lights, and have the tables set with artificial candles. You could rig the entire ceiling in christmas lights, then cover it with a fine mesh to hide the wires. Add vines and leaves, and youhave a star lit sky.

I agree with using LotR themes. They seem to be mainstream now. And their is nothing more mainstream than HS prom.

Also, stuff from Harry Potter.

Actually, I didn't go to my HS prom (and never regretted it), but I would have loved to go to a fantasy themed prom or other dance. Good luck!

BTW, I'm not a moderator but I don't think this is an off-topic thread really. Not very off-topic, anyway.
