my family tree on my mothers side has been traced all the way back to Richard the third, and also includes the guy that invented the T.V. and alegedly John Smith.

Hey, we're also from Ireland (county Cork though) and according to our family crest, there's a chance that there's some nobility in our line. However, given what I know about my family history there's a good cahnce that my ancestors were transported as convicts during the potato famine meaning all the talk of nobility doesn't count for much.

Oh, and my Dad's the King of France ::. Sorry, but I have trouble beleiving that all of you are related (however distantly) to royalty of any sort. And even if you are, who cares? It makes you the 342nd in line for the throne?

Why? It wouldn't surprise me if 1/3 of the western population was distantly related to royalty.

I think we're all just havein a little fun talking about our family trees, i don't think anyone here cares beyond saying "hry, thats kinda cool." I don't think it's any thing to get upset about. If you aren't interested don't read the thread.

My father's ancestors were sept of the Clan Murray, which is pretty cool in itself. My father's side is mostly from the UK while my mother's side is mostly German/Russian. One of my mother's great grandfathers supposedly took a Native American as a bride but no one can remember which tribe she was (some say Commache while some say Kiowa).

If you do a search of your last name, you'll find some links. There are even some yahoo groups dedicated to a specific surname. Also, check out http://www.ancestry.com for some cool family tree info.

My ancestors were (by all accounts) European gutter scum (Welshmen living in London I believe) shipped over to North America as some kind of penal servitude.

I think one of my ancestors was an axe murderer in Idaho. Ultimately I think my lineage goes back to Switzerland and Denmark mainly with some English and other Scandanavian thrown in. I'm just a good-old fashioned mutt
