Viking Class

If I remember correctly there is a pdf coming out about Vikings. Done with historical research I believe and to be published by The Le Games.

Bard? Wouldn't that be more of a Skald?

Well, there´s no Skald core class, and he ability to compose and improvise poems was very apreciated in a warrior, specially (I seem to remember) before or at important and dangerous moments, like battles. Sounds like inspire courage. About the fighter/rogue part (with more fighter than rogue) they fought dirty whenever they could; ambushing, sneaking and surprising their foes in the bed (or burning their houses to force them out) was commonplace, and IIRC not exactly shameful.

Well, there's the Savage Bard variant from Unearthed Arcana that seems to fit the Skald quite nicely.

What kind of class would a viking be? After doing some reaserch, I concluded that it would be a ranger w/ two-handed highting. (Longsword and battle axe.)

What do you think?

There is evidence of some vikings that attack with swords, and used battle axxes in their off-hands to parry attacks. Definately not the norm, but did exist. (Probably 5-10% of vikingwarriors did this.)

I was just wondering if this makes sense. Wilderness-inspied feats of a ranger seemed to compliment a norse warrior very well.

But that's just my take.

Certainly a valid option for a PC in a fantasy Viking setting, but I wouldn't call it your stereotypical viking, but much in keeping with the setting than say a ranger using rapier and dagger.
