Void Subtype?

Okay, so by now we've all seen the new Monster Mayhem over at WotC's site detailing the Void creatures.

What I wanted to know was, these creatures all have the Void subtype. Now (d20 products notwithstanding), I've never seen that subtype before. Where did WotC introduce it? The article seems to have an Oriental Adventures slant to it, but OA itself only details the Shadowlands and Spirit subtypes, not a Void one. Am I missing a source, or is this something brand new?

For ease of reference, here is the Void subtype description as it appears in WotC's article:

Void Subtype: Void creatures are made of the same empty space that comprises the Void. Normal creatures (that is, creatures without the void subtype) cannot see them unless the void creature makes its presence known, either by an act of will (a free action) or by attacking. A void creature has total concealment (50% miss chance) unless it reveals itself. See invisibility and invisibility purge don't reveal void creatures, but true seeing does. Blindsight and blindsense don't reveal void creatures. Members of the void disciple class can see void creatures. Once it reveals itself, a void creature remains visible until it uses a free action to conceal itself again.

(As a note, there is a paragraph after this talking about evasion, but that isn't part of the Void subtype's abilities; rather, that paragraph is outlining the common powers for the Void Hounds listed below it.)

The Void subtype was, in fact, created solely for that article. And it is, in fact, OA flavored. And it could probably be added to a few monsters, probably more from the 3rd party Rokugan stuff than the actual OA creatures.

Demiurge out.
