Volcano or Fire Giant Modules?

Hello, two other options come to mind. There is "Scourge of Raftport" from MonkeyGod and "Dungeons of Doom" from Green Ronin. The former has a temple in the side of a mountain/volcano and the plot revolves around the activities of a fire giant king. The latter is only maps, but there are several beautiful ones of a former dwarven hold now turned fire giant lair.

Raftport can now be bought on RPGNow in pdf format. I'll be using both of these in a semi-long turn against the fire giants in Kalamar (a spring-board from their fine product, Geanavue).

Good luck!

There was a map on the WotC website that included a fortress surrounded by lava. I dunno if it's still there or not.
Yep!

"Pre-emptive Strike" by Paul Culotta appeared in Dungeon #74, and features an active volcano and a bunch of tough fire giants.

I haven't played it, but Culotta's stuff is generally very solid. There's some backstory involving a nearby elven nation that could be kept or scrapped, as required--the "dungeon" itself looks quite decent.

Some conversion may be required (I know you play both OAD&D and 3rd edition), as the format is AD&D 2nd edition.

Hope that helps.

I guess what I'm saying is to look beyond the creature stats, and give the things a story, and a purpose. It will make the world seem much more alive.
Thanks for the suggestion. I have nothing planned for the fire giants so could take this in any direction.

Our world is actually very much 'alive', as this campaign has been running continuously since 1982 and three of the six characters in the current module have been around since our very first module. I frequently toss in "gray" rather than "black" and "white" NPC's. One prior encounter in this module had the party running into a large group of bandits and rather than fighting they came to a truce and then spent the next few hours eating, drinking and swapping stories together.

In the instance of the first Fire Giant encounter I was trying to stick rather closely to the "Into the Fire" module as it is considered one of the best.
