For them to put out a book, any book, requires a huge upfront cost for them. Labor, facilities, insurance, printing, distribution, marketing, et al. Instead they have the Guild, where they get ~25 percent with no risk, virtually no upfront costs, and very little in the way of maintenance costs (a couple of employees who have to deal with DMsG issues on a part time basis).</blockquote>
