Gary Gygax has passed away.

I suggest we all stop arguing about 4e for 24 hours (at least) out of respect for the man who most shaped our hobby. I've never been the biggest fan of every playstyle and opinion he espoused, but I can't think of the game without his contribution.

Wow. That's two deaths in two days for me, though the first is someone I knew and not anyone famous.

Look on the General Discussion page, it isn't hard to find.
Thanks for the assistance. It took me awhile, but I finally found a link to a link to a link to a board of someone who says they received a phone call. Truly a sad day if we get independent news source verification.

Edit: and here it is :(

Thank you Mr. Gygax, for making my entertainment so much more than slapping a vcr tape in a machine.

Thank you, Gary, for everything. You will be missed.

I kind of feel like EN World should... do something. Some grand, stupid gesture -- like a 1000 gp gem for Ernie or something.
