2nd Ed seemed to have a golden age with adventures.

*blinks*

Is the typo, "2nd Ed" or "adventures"?

Just kidding, everyone is allowed an opinion, but mine is that 2e was easily the worst when it came to adventures. Settings were the best in 2e, but definitely not the often dull and nearly as often railroady adventures. 1e ruled for adventures, though 3e had some gems.

Sunless Citadel was a great idea and fun to play. Forge of Fury, because a nice, basic, self-contained dungeon crawl is actually refreshing, and the Roper is something people still talk about today :D Bastion of broken souls for the coolness

3E was the time I went into writing my own setting and adventures, so I just remember Return to the Temple of Elemental Evil (which was pretty bad) as a player.

Dungeon adventures and WotC freebies were usually good: I fondly remember Lest Darkness Rise, Force of Nature and The Crumbling Hall of the Frost Giant Jarl.

I agree with many others here that the Dungeon magazine adventures beat most of the stuff on this list (probably because it was the future Paizo staff writing them).

That being said, if you ever get the chance, play the Cormyr, Shadowdale, and Anauroch trilogy - that super-adventure is some of the best gaming I had in 3.5!
