Below is the list of qualifying entries for the Atlas Games critter contest. Of 40+ entries only 15(!) actually followed the guidelines.

For those who don't remember, the task was to create a monster based on a miniature. You can see the miniature in question here.

Full details of the contest are available here.

The 15 qualifying entries are:

So, let us know which you think is the best!

Wow, that Dragori Hound has a really good Spot. +106

Not even Shar could sneak up on him. :D

You know, I think part of the reason for the small number of entries for this contest, is this is an odd looking mini. Kinda like one of those 2 person costumes, only painted aqua blue.

If it were painted purple, it would look a lot like a 2 person Barney costume.

Still, I think hipposaur is the best, since it's kind of a combination of a horse and dinosaur.

The best...?

It was written:

Still, I think hipposaur is the best, since it's kind of a combination of a horse and dinosaur.

To which I reply: Pshaw! It is obvious that the bonethief rocks most righteously in comparison with all the estimable entries.

Vote for the bonethief! Vote for the bonethief!

Cry me a river...OF BLOOD!

Dang, I sent in two entries. I thought I followed the format properly on both of them. I guess not. I wonder what was wrong with the second entry.
Anyway, I like mine:D
But I liked my second one better.
P.S. Vote Throast in 2002!!!

First thing I did was go through to confirm that all rules were followed. I know the errata to the face/reach was given somewhat late, but since I considered it a very unusual size and hard to work with, I have no choice but to eliminate the four who did not follow it (Ok-Marrofy, Dragori Hound, Bonethief and Dragon Snuffler).

The ones I am still considering voting for:

Cartala
I like the history and flavor text. Unfortunately, reflex save is wrong and skills are wrong. I'm a little concerned about the create spawn restricting its general use. Overall, still one of my favorites.

Ripdrake
At a significantly higher CR than all the other entrants, I haven't fully delved into this one. Also, it is the only one out of reach of my current party's level. The breath weapon's special energy type is a concern. Overall, I need to look more closely, but will probably not receive my vote due to the CR.

Throast
I like the detection ability. Skills are wrong (wis modifier not added in. EHD skill not added in). The creature description sounds like it could use work, but I guess that is how Core Rulebook 3 was written. Overall, a high candidate.

Dragori Steed
A dragon horse, which is what the miniature just screams to me. The problems: missing a few skill points, attacks forgot size mod, no clue where the rear kick attack bonus came from. Overall, solid background, but the attack bonus really irks me.

Hipposaur
Another dragon horse. With the mention of the MM errata, this beast is perfectly written. The poison is an interesting twist. Overall, more solid background. I made my vote under incorrect analysis and wish I could change it to this one.

[Edit]
Thanks to Greybar and Bran Eaglecleft for pointing out the proper url.
Dragons' Rest Steed
Another dragon horse. Yes, I like these. The draconic bite is an interesting idea. The background is also good. Seems to me that buck should be listed as a separate attack sequence, unless buck attack is different from Buck special attack. Skill nitpick: I'm counting 31 for a creature that should have 30. Overall, a very solid entry.

Draaks

Just to spoil the fun, but Draak is just Dutch for Dragon which doesn't seem all too original to me (even the discription kind of says they are dragons).

Anyway, they've got the plural all wrong:D

Bonethief rocks!

I just hate all dragon-wannabe-monsters (and most of all HALF-DRAGONS!) and the Bonethief was just plain wicked, like I am as a DM :)

futher Disqualifications?

Oy-

It seems that many of the authors did not see the errata that was posted for this contest. The figure is on a base that is 1x3 inches, thus the monster is 5x15.

The errata stated that qualifying monsters must be 5x15, to go along with the figure. This was posted on EN's front page once (i think), and it was further discussed in the d20 publisher's forum.

I know *I* had to rewrite my entry.

So, errata errated? Or did some slip through?
