To swamp tread or not...?

guess the question I'm really asking is: would you use it in an appropriate adventure?

I suppose a swamp treader could be used for some local color in a swamp-based adventure. I'd also be tempted to tweak up a war-trained version for lizardfolk warriors. I would certainly add the missing +2 damage bonus to the tail attack.

The size requirement was a late addition requested by Lance & Laser Miniatures, but I'm glad Morrus included ones that didn't conform in the final voting, since it would have been very difficult for him to coordinate corrections to all of the submissions. The winning entry is subject to revision and editing, so I'll take care of any inconsistencies once a winner is selected ... don't let the size problem keep you from voting for an entry you would otherwise choose!

Hipposaur - I find myself having trouble getting past the image of a "hippo" as a huge, fat thing while this mini is lean and quick looking.

:) "Hippos" is Greek for "horse". "Hippopotamus" means "riverine horse". "Hipposaur" ("horse lizard") seemed appropriately faux-scholarly for what looked to me like a funky fantasy dinosaur. And was much easier to say than "asvak’rth".

As for the skills -- MM errata says beasts (which the hipposaur is) get the same 10-15 skill points animals do. Adjusting for attribute and racial skill bonuses, they spent 14 skill points. Near max, but I liked the jumping thing; the mini's legs looked quite capable.

[insert shameless "vote Hipposaur!" plug]

That's right, errata drastically changed beasts, I had forgotten. I had done all my calculations straight out of the MM.

It's odd that over 1,000 people have vied this contest's poll and yet, as of my posting this, only 108 have voted. Come on people, let's see those votes!!!
Truly odd. Even more odd is that out of 108, only 6 have voted for the Throast. Of course, you should all be thankful that my entry Harebane didn't make it for some reason, or you would all be ground into the dirt:p

Huzzah!

All hail Michelle!

Hmm. Say that last line with an East Texas accent and the last two words rhyme.

P.S. Vote for the bonethief!

Just voted for the bonethief. I rather like it, cause although its unlikely, the bone theft could possibly lead to some very interesting roleplay (and allow for some sniggering behind the GM screen).

Liked most of the entries though, congrats to all.

I've emailed the winners to get their details, which I will then forward to Atlas. Congrats, guys! All of the entries were great (I'll be using a couple myself).
