Greetings all. I would like to announce that I have finished the tabulation of the votes and turned over the results to the judges. Some interesting tidbits about the results that won't spoil anything but should wet everyone's appetite a bit ;)

A total of 11,492 votes where cast. This is nearly twice the previous year's total of 5,589. Despite that huge turnout, 9 of the races where within 500 votes (1% of margin over votes cast), and 3 races had margins less than 100 - all but a statistical tie in a vote this large.

Again, thanks to all who participated to make this the best ENnies yet. See you at the con.

I'd like opine that I think the decision regarding disqualifying Fear the Boot podcast is very disappointing on the part of the ENnie staff.

And I'm disappointed that Fear the Boot chose to encourage cheating and disparage the awards. We'll just have to each settle for our disappointment.

Good to see that voter numbers nearly doubled on last year’s figures. I just hope that it wasn’t to people voting multiple times. I’m hoping that it’s more people that are getting into the awards.

Might I suggest that before next years contest you find a better voting method so that such a situation does not arise again. Fixing this problem would be very simple if you simply required people to register in order to vote you would not have this problem.

Behavior on both sides of this issue has been appalling. You can do whatever you like because it is your site and your awards ceremony. Just my two cents do with them as you will.

Registrations can be faked. IP's can be rotated or spoofed. There exists no method of identity verification on the Internet. If you don't believe this then try to explain why over 6 billion spam messages are emailed every single day.

The ENnies relied on a gentleman's agreement. FtB chose to break that agreement. Unexpected this was, and unfortunate.

I can slow down the voting process and slow down a would be cheater - but a determined attacker can thwart anything I could devise that would keep the awards open to the public. I can close off the awards to ENWorld board members only, but that would disenfranchise persons wishing to vote who aren't members of this board. I do have plans on how to increase security for the voting process, but I will not discuss them publicly as any public discussion would give cheaters an advantage.

Question for you guys. If a person isn't present at the awards, how would they be informed if they won or not?

I don't think it's about cheating, or promoting cheating or anything like that. It's about respect.
If you don't take the awards seriously why taking part in it? You're disrespecting yourself and the people that really cares about it!

I'm hoping to get the Gencon live staff to vidcast the event this year, but this isn't confirmed yet. Failing that the winners will be announced on this board at midnight Friday after the ceremony. Also, I believe the shipping addresses of all the entrants are on file so that prizes can be mailed to them.
