W.w.y.d.i.y.w.a.q-d.?

If I had those powers, I'd be a little miffed at first because I'd obviously not be intended for writing, which is what I like. But since I could be a super-hero, I would be. And then I'd realize that being invulnerable to some damage isn't good enough, and that I'm too out of shape to chase down criminals. So yeah, patron god of something might work.

Looking at it, Divine Rank 0 might at most make this guy level -equivalent to a 3rd level character. All those things become MUUUUCH more important when he is higher level. At first level, a crit from a 1HD orc with a greataxe will kill him.

Exactly. Most of the stuff is useless at 1st level, except for the DR and SR. If he had some more hp's under his belt, then he'd be a force. He'd be nigh invulnerable on a daily basis and probably the big man on campus in his village but he's still 1st level.

Yeah, the guy isn't nearly as tough as the "deity" moniker would suggest. A well-placed Power Attack or a decent Conjuration (which tend to ignore SR) would kill him easily.

Heck, I'd go adventuring and pick up some class levels - after all, I've pretty much got a free ride until 3rd or 4th level (when the fighter-types will start blowing through my DR regularly).

OR, if I had the patience -
move to the metropolis, continue gaining in my commoner class until I'm on the top of the heap, and then go lay the smackdown on a high-level adventurer, screaming "THIS is what an EPIC COMMONER looks like!"

Now, aside from the fact that such a PC on lvl 1 is freakin' impossible and any DM allowing him should be carted off to some mental institution
What's the problem?

I would certainly allow him in a game where the other PCs are quasi-deities as well or otherwise have similar power.

the other problem is that adventuring would be difficult, as Divine rank must come with a terrible EC modifier. I would say perhaps 4th lvl equivilent character, but his SR would become more useful as he gained levels, even if his DR and energy resist grow less useful.

Hmm.. as for teaming up with a god, your stats are mediocre and you have only defensive powers, so good luck.

Ive got it you steal enough for a chime of opening and then loot wizard's homes while they are gone. You would want to take levels as a thief, for skill points mostly.

I think this would be great if the character in question did not know about this ability. This would be a cool thing for a DM to throw on a character that tends to shy away from combat. At one stage the character actually gets hit, and is amazed that it did nothing.
