Do any of your crafters charge you for using a charge of their wand on you? How much do they charge?

If you craft a wand and someone asks you to spend a charge on them do you charge them? How much do you charge?

What type of wand charges are you willing to pay for and which ones would you refuse to pay for?

In one of our campaigns we all pitch in and buy wands for the entire party. Characters get to use these wands as often as they'd like.

In another campaign characters buy wands and then charge each character for a charge. The fee is face value (cost/50). If the wand (or scroll for that matter) is crafted usually the creator just eats the xp and only charges half (the creation cost). This is primarily for healing and buffs.

Who pays for offensive consumable items, like wands of fireball or magic missile?

owner of wand decides what he wants to do.

i can tell him to use a charge on me. but 99 times out of 100 he will tell me to go muck myself instead.

The question is what you would prefer, not necessarily what happens.

It sounds like you have an owner, so do you prefer to have individuals purchase all wands, even for healing?

If so, are you ever expected to pay for wand charges? If the owner charges you when does she USUALLY do it and why? (Sounds like it's willy nilly, but what is the general pattern?)

If you come across a wand as "treasure" does the party "buy it" (remove it from treasure division) or do you require individuals to take it out of their treasure split?

In our games we don't charge anything. The other players in fact throw money at me to get more healing wands.

Do they split this cost evenly or do some players pay more than others?

At first each of them gave different amounts till they learned that some were giving more then others. So, the guys that were giving less choose to give more so they all gave the same amount. I am swimming in wands of healing :D

What about other buff wands? Especially at lower levels, like wands of bless, sanctuary, bull's strength, etc?

If you find them as treasure what do you do? Does the party remove them from the treasure split or does one person have to "buy it" as part of their split? If they have to buy it and someone wants a charge how is that handled?

We don't have any of them. We don't have a c,leric, my druid does the healing and he'd perfer to be up front fighting.

When we find treasure we give it to whom it is useful for. We don't buy party splits. We give out things to people if they can use them. We don't care about everyone getting equal amounts because that just isn't possible with found treasure.

No, casters don't get to charge allies for casting spells on them in games I play. I have seen people charge full price for making magic items, and I don't agree with that either. Leeching money from the party is a sure path to inequality and hard feelings, IMO. Just because there's a going market price for NPC spellcasting does not mean that the amoral cleric should charge for healing, or the druid should buy a healing wand to free up spell slots and then charge the party for contributing to party survival. There are also going market prices for mercenaries, but nobody ever talks about paying the fighter a daily wage.

I firmly believe that party shares should apply to all members equally, whether you can cast spells or not, whether you decide to use a wand or a spell slot.
