D&D 5E Wandering Monster-Touched by a Devil (or demon)

I think the Deva/Aasimar question is a little thornier. 4e Devas are distinct creatures in a lot of ways both from earlier-e devas, and from aasimar. They really are their own thing, a race of perfection-seeking reincarnates. To me, that means they need a new name, since they're not really related at all to pre-4e devas-as-angels-who-protect-travelers. Though you could kludge them together ("Oh! They seek perfection and those who reach it become protectors!"), and that might work, they're really very distinct kinds of things.

Aasimar are also fundamentally different from "perfection-seeking reincarnates," so it's probably better to keep them and the 4e devas distinct.

There's room in the game for both, but the two are really very different in their essential details unlike the Bael Turathi tiefers and the rest of 'em, who all fall into the camp of "touched by an evil" in some way, and just spin it in different directions.
