Spell Trigger: Spell trigger activation is similar to spell completion, but it’s even simpler. No gestures or spell finishing is needed, just a special knowledge of spellcasting that an appropriate character would know, and a single word that must be spoken. Anyone with a spell on his or her spell list knows how to use a spell trigger item that stores that spell. (This is the case even for a character who can’t actually cast spells, such as a 3rd-level paladin.) The user must still determine what spell is stored in the item before she can activate it. Activating a spell trigger item is a standard action and does not provoke attacks of opportunity.

And, they can even be used in a grapple! Big advantage! Already saved the life of my sorceress on at least one occasion (wand of polymorph, kinda changes the situation if you're suddenly grappling a mighty troll instead of the whimpy sorceress :D).

Yeah... I had vague 1E flutterings trying to surface in my memory...

Right you are! p.122 DMG 1st Ed. "Wand of Magic Missiles (any)"
The "(any)" denoted "usable by any class"; whereas (C), (F), or (M)
would have designated cleric, fighter, or magic-user respectively.

I don't have the DMG here with me at work, but I seem to recall some rule about it also being the same type of magic. Like a bard could NOT use a wand of CLW made by a cleric because the bard casts Arcane magic (not Divine). Is that just wrong? Or was it something from 3.0?

I am not sure either about the arcane, divine cure light wounds but if I remember correctly Sorcerers can cast any arcane spell from any list, so I would allow them to cast the cure light wound since it's on the bard list.

Err, no. Sorcerers, like any other class, can only cast spells from spell trigger items, which are on their class spell list. So no cure light wounds for the sorcerers.

However, there is no arcane/divine distinction with wands (only with scrolls) and therefore a bard can use the same wand of cure light wounds a cleric can.

You remember incorrectly. Sorcerers can cast any spell on the Sorcerer spell list, which is mostly coterminus with the Wizard spell list (with a few exceptions). The Sorcerer has no special ability to cast spells drawn from the Bard spell list unless they happen to also be on the Sorcerer spell list.

But from the SRD

A sorcerer casts arcane spells which are drawn primarily from the sorcerer/wizard spell list.
and what about

These new spells can be common spells chosen from the sorcerer/wizard spell list, or they can be unusual spells that the sorcerer has gained some understanding of by study
So if they are not other arcane spell what are they???

I am bit confused. Since they cannot learn bard spell because they are not on their list and they are on the bard list. It therefore means that these other unusual spell are not on anybody spell list and therefore don't exist. Because one class must create the spell and therefore have it on it's spell list thus resulting on the impossibility for the sorcerer to take it.
