Want A Gmail Account?

So you've been hearing about this new free email service called "Gmail" that Google has in beta testing. You've heard that it's good, and you've heard a bit of the controversy about targeted advertising. Read more about Gmail here.

Well, I've had an account for several months now, and I've been happier than a pig in mud. I love the threaded messages, and the search engine on it is wonderful. It blows both Hotmail & Yahoo email accounts out of the water, AFAIC. I've been slowly switching my other accounts over to my Gamil account I like it so much.

And best of all, it comes with 1000 MB of storage space, FREE. Thats right, 1000 MB. 1 Gig of free storage.

So, how do you get a gmail account? Glad you asked. I happen to have a couple invites sitting on my account that I can use to invite a few friends to get their own account. I'm offering 3 of them up to my fellow EN World members. How will I chose who gets them? Simple. Post in this thread why I should give an account to you. Bribe me, tell me a joke, write me poetry, post a really cool link, be creative. I'll check the thread on a regular basis and pick the best ones, or maybe I'll just roll a die to see who gets an account. Or maybe I'll just play favorites. Just be sure to leave a (properly disguised) email address in your post so I can email the invite to you, should I choose you post to get an account.

I was very excited about Gmail when I first heard about it, but (for now) I'll happily take a pass and let others try it out.

I'm pleased by the secondary fallout from Gmail. Yahoo has already increased mailbox storage size to 100 MB and HoTMaiL is about to increase storage to 250 MB. I'm happy enough with that for now, since I don't do enough personal correspondence by e-mail that the (super-sounding) search and threading features are that tempting.

Yeah. I noticed my yahoo account was a lot bigger a few days ago. Didn't know why though.

Its amazing to see how far e-mail service has come.
