Seems to me like this thing might never end.

Everyone that gets a GMail account, gets 6 invites.

Those 6 people can invite 6 other people....

1 -> 6 -> 36 -> 216 -> 1296 -> 7,776 -> 46,656 -> 279,936 -> 1,679,616...

That's 2,015,539 people in just 8 iterations of invites. And this gmail thing has been going for months!

But, on a more interesting note, if each one of them has 1 gigabyte of mail storage, that's 2 PETABYTES of data that they have to store the information for just those people.

They must have a warehouse full of hard drives for this thing. It's INSANE!

Well, you don't get to invite others for a month or so, so there is a delay built into the system.

But, on a more interesting note, if each one of them has 1 gigabyte of mail storage, that's 2 PETABYTES of data that they have to store the information for just those people.

They must have a warehouse full of hard drives for this thing. It's INSANE!

They probably don't need the full 1 GB/person storage space, because most people won't take advantage of all that.
