Want to know how desperate I am for some gaming lately?

I'm on/off again with gaming lately, but something keeps drawing me back, wanting to get a campaign up and running or something. Remains to be seen if it happens--or if I even really want it to (although I'm pretty sure I do!).

I guess I should clarify :) I play in games pretty regularly, but haven't run one for a while and, as mentioned previously, the playing is more about hanging out, acting goofy, and having fun than it is about the games. The games are just and excuse to get together and hang out, really ;)

I really want to run a game, but it's been hard going trying to get people (or people who I care to game with, anyhow) interested in things like TWERPS, Principia Malefex, Basic Fantasy RPG, Holmes BD&D and other games that I have an interest in running. That said. . .

Warhammer 40k, Descent, or Arkham Horror, though? I could get players in a heartbeat. I can even find people interested in old games like Outremere. And card games, collectible minis games, and dice games? Players abound!

Right now, almost all of the RPG supplements I've bought since 2005 have gone completely unused, which makes them a waste of my money. And I've prepped dozens of games only to find out afterward that nobody wants to use X system (usually after they were all gung-ho about it prior to prep).

So, I guess it's a matter of my spending loads of money on RPG books but having to come to terms with the hard reality that without an available, willing, player pool, books are worthless.

I've been in similar situation and actual play gaming podcasts helped me a bit.

Check out rpgmp3.com. If you go to the forums there are all sorts of podcasts to check out. In particular I recommend the Whartson Hall Gamers. They have their own category in the forums. The Pirates of the Spanish Main sessions made me laugh SO hard, people at work were starting to think I was a little touched. And I work alone!

No Good Deed Goes Unpunished

Ummm . . . that playlist would be great if I was interested in teaching English overseas. But, uh, I saw nothing on it even remotely relating to RPGs.

Teaching English overseas?

Are we talking about the same listing? Come on ... it's loaded with RPG satire and nostalgia.
